My Conquest Training Philosophy

Why train with me instead of one of the big schools? Because Personalized training is the hallmark of my business. Unlike the big simulator schools, here you are the only one in the class and you always train with me. Although I have a insurance approved syllabus, I am not so tied to a Part 142 curriculum that I have to teach the same things over and over. I specialize in tailoring my training to your requirements. For some clients, that means concentrating on engine out scenarios in my full motion simulation. Or it could be mentoring you on your first flight across the North Atlantic. As the owner/pilot of a Conquest, you understand that Initial or Recurrent training is the key to flying safely. In fact, reducing accidents is the only reason insurance companies require annual training. Unfortunately, many big box simulator schools continue to emphasize subject areas that have no measurable effect on improving flight safety. Research has proven that learning is enhanced when training is both realistic and authentic. Reviewing aircraft systems in minute detail for two days every year does little to help a pilot faced with real world go/no go decisions. Conquest accidents are usually the culmination of a chain of events. Learning to break that chain is far more useful to the owner/ pilot than a 90 minute review of how the starter generator functions. Rather than rehash the same old information, I teach the skills necessary to learn good judgment and make safe decisions. I do this by incorporating scenario based training and installing a safety system to back up your decision making process. I take into account your experience level and type of flying to create real-life scenarios as a means of exposing you to realistic operations and critical decision making opportunities. These scenarios include "what if" discussions to challenge your decision making process. Since the "what if" discussion pertains to the scenario, there is a powerful connection between your decisions and the successful outcome of the flight. Research has shown these types of discussions help build good judgment skills. Of course, aircraft system training is included to help you recognize the limitations and capabilities of your airplane. As an A&P mechanic, I know the systems, but more importantly, I teach you what you need to know.

Additionally, I use my scenario based method to instruct you on the intricacies of the Conquest's avionics. What makes the Conquest aircraft unique is superior avionics, which offer enhanced capabilities. Glass cockpits and avionics require increased technical knowledge and the ability to interface seamlessly with the automation. This is the greatest benefit to training in your airplane as opposed to training in a simulator. Of course, I also have a WAAS equipped, full motion simulator for those pilots preferring simulator training.

The proven, Conquest airframe has enjoyed many years of service. These airplanes are stable and forgiving, and comprise a large percentage of the small jet turbine fleet. The key to the Conquest's safety record is continuous training. My goal is to improve your aircraft handling skills, decision making abilities, Single Pilot Resource Management and overall safety while flying the Conquest.
